Snow Bird 2012

Dressed only in open toe thong slippers and a mini length robe, I stood outside at 20 degrees for 15 minutes to get this shot. It even started to snow!!!

I have no bird feeders. For any bird photo taken at home, I have to wait for the wild birds to come to gather Nature's berries in our yard. For days or weeks on end, I won't see a bird within camera range
This morning, I was putting the dog out to go potty - plus not at all thinking about photography - when I noticed the photo opt. I had no chance to put on proper clothes nor to find the DSLR.
For fear the birds would disappear, I could only grab the little bridge camera.

Meanwhile, Mr and Mrs Cardinal tended to stay within the inner branches of the tree & made me wait for even the fleeting chance of a clear shot. Brrrrrrr!!!
By the time I went back inside the house, my fingers were so cold that I could hardly move them. Strangely, the rest of me wasn't as cold. Not even my toes.

Wonderful capture, Liz ... that same Cardinal was in my snow-covered tree yesterday but flew away (to your house?) before I could get my camera, Voted ... and have a happy and healthy 2013.

Delightful shot, Liz. His wonderful color sure stands out. Love the bits of snow coming down to complete the scene.

Nice comp and capture, Liz. Be careful --- you might be attracting the wrong thing in your photography attire. ;^)
