It's been over a month since the flood waters first entered English Landing Park. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEsthVz2UKw&feature=mfu_in_order&list=ULBecause the Army Corps has reduced the flow from the Gavin Point Dam, some of this water has started to recede. An extremely dry and hot Summer has also helped with reducing flood levels. The top of the white rings on the trees was the high water mark. Unfortunately, the Park and parts of Parkville are expected to remain under water until late September.
Nevertheless, Parkville is one very lucky town. Not far North, small towns and fields are still under exceptionally deep, fast moving water. Sadly, tragedy has also struck http://www.kmbc.com/news/28733841/detail.html When one stops to think that if this could happen to someone knowledgeable and experienced concerning the dangers of flooding, why do some everyday people do stupid things like trying to play in flood water?
