I remember when this tree was one of many standing in the same area at the edge of the water. Its companions have been taken (one by one) by Nature, turned into decaying snags, rotted to the point of falling into the marsh, ended up as pieces of driftwood, and finally been swallowed entirely by the Marsh. Each time I drive past this lone survivor, I wonder how much longer it will be before Nature takes her, too.
