I'm guessing Robin.
However, this bird was identified as being a female "Stitch Bird"or Hihi. We did hear the distinct Hihi call just before I spotted her. A nearby "Tiri Ranger" told his group that female Hihis resemble New Zealand Robins. He then went on to say that you can tell which is which on the island by their leg bandings.
Still, I question if this was really a Hihi. The Hihi is one of the rarest birds in New Zealand. Plus, the Hihi is also a nectar eater like the Bellbird and the Tui. Yet this girl seems to be partaking grass seeds. Hummmm? Well, whatever. As with the rare Takahe, Hihis are doing well (or as well as they can) on Tiritiri Island. So are North Island Robins. All three are not birds that I can find at home.
