A new canyon to us in the Escalante area of southern Utah. We drove to the Early Weed Traihead and hiked across the 'Scorpion Flat' plateau to descend down a sand dune into Scorpion Gulch. We overnighted at the Escalante River but got hit by 12 hours of rain which blocked our progress a little as the Escalante swole in volume and was uncrossable. We then retreated back the way we came. Another great canyon though and the plateau above was a surprise joy to hike with fresh pools of water and clear expansive views. Also see our hiking blog
