4 Henry Mountains
The fourth part of our 2 month hike in Spring 2022 in Utah, Arizona. We also have a
Hayduke 2022 blog
We rested up in the small town of Hanksville, southern Utah
With some 'cardboard cutout' locals
Hanksville is at the crossroads to Lake Powell and other parks such as Capital Reef
Surreal metalwork artwork on the street
We started hiking from where we left off on Highway 95, heading west and uphill
Weird (and slightly phallic!) hoodoos at Little Egypt
Little Egypt
We scrambled up the loose, shale slopes behind Little Egypt to connect with jeep roads
Heading up towards the vivid Henry Mountains in the cold air
Mining relics - there was a goldrush town here in its 1890's mining heyday
Old mining shack
Old mining shack
Upwards on wide dirt road towards Crescent Creek
Nice aspen camp at Crescent Creek
We find an old tent peg, supersized compared to our lightweight ones!
It was well below freezing here!
Hiking round the tops of the Henry Mountains
Henry Mountains snow at Copper ridge
Looking to the southern Henry's
Big ponderosa's at Airplane Spring. We turned round due to Brian's blisters (see blog)
This could be from 'Breaking Bad'
Back to H95 on the Hayduke
Going under H95 to hitch into Hanksville
With local singer in Hanksville, Rod Asay You were superb Rod!
