This gallery shows pictures from the 1995 Clachaig Mountaineering Club Greenland Expedition where a team of seven visited a remote area in arctic East Greenland to climb mountains, most of which had never had an ascent before. We were flown in from Iceland via a small ex-military airstrip on the island of Kulusuk and the twin otter plane fitted with skiis dropped us on the huge Kristian Glacier. We were to camp on glaciers for the next 3 weeks and used skiis to move around to the foot of the mountains. Our equipment was stored in pulks (large sledges) which we could drag along the snow whilst skiing.
