6:36 P.M. This is one of the shots that I scouted during the afternoon. At this time of the evening at Mono Lake you're often struggling to decide
which side of the tufa field to photograph...looking into the colors of the setting sun and sunset clouds to the west...or back to the east looking at the pastel colors.

17-40L at 17mm. 8 sec at f/22. ISO 50.

This is a great scene! Nice long exposure for that dreamy water.

Nicely done.

An insight of sorts. I like the versions where more of the lake is included like this one. The lake is the one element that varies more than the rest of the elements, so it can express more of the mood of the place. I have a few shots where I cropped too tight around the tufa and something was lost in the expressivenmess as the tufa are so much more static. Interesting of course and the reason to be there, but more static.

Cheers,
