7:45 AM

7:45 AM. The light was changing very, very fast now. The sun had risen over the tufa field, which greatly amplified the contrast of any scene with the tufas. This shot was taken moments after the sun struck the tufas, and they still retained the warm glow of the first light. Again, bracketed exposures were used to hold dynamic range. 1/10 sec, f/8. This image was actually desaturated a bit as the colors were quite overpowering in the original image.

Superb. I stayed the night in Lee Vining while shooting Bodie last month and I passed up Mono Lake for sake of time and I really regret it after seeing your images. What a great place and you've captured it so well.
