The Beauty of Backlight; The Aspens of Snowbowl Road

The color intensity of autumn aspens if often best realized when the sun in shining from behind the trees; that is, in backlight. When the sun passes through the golden aspen leaves they appear to almost glow with brilliance; filtering the golden hue onto the forest floor. It is a magical type of light. The gallery herein is composed exclusively of the backlit aspens along the Snowbowl Road near Flagstaff, Arizona...all taken on one glorious afternoon in October, 2005.

I remember a fall in the Aspen area of Colo many years ago . . I couldn't spend ENUFF time in the beauty of these trees . . . that was years before I discovered the art of my camera =) Thanks for the wonderful memories

this is such a beautiful group of images, brian. your compositional instincts just blow me away, especially your choices in the positioning of the trees relative to each other and the light. and you are simply a master of the tricky kind of backlighting that drives so many of us mad!! vote (twice if i could!).

I really like Aspen #2. I have been to Hart Prairie road numerous times in the fall, but had not tried going up Snowboal Road. I love the backlighting
