This egret stationed itself right next to a heavily trafficked footbridge on the campus of the University of Massachusetts Amherst. There are a lot of little fish in the pond next to the bridge. Shortly after I took this photo (and my camera ran out of batteries!), the egret waded into the pond and waited for prey. A student started tossing bits of bread into the water near the egret, which attracted the fish. Pretty soon the egret had its meal.
