I sometimes wonder why the aristos liked elaborately painted ceilings,perhaps because they spent a fair bit of time flat on their backs drunk it gave them something nice to look at.

Brian, perhaps the elaborate paintings were done on the ceilings to show the abode of God!

In order to avoid neck ache, I take a medium size mirror (of good quality) to photograph/film a ceiling. Brian's photo is well composed. Not only it captures almost the whole ceiling but manages nicely to cover also the bottom line with the man and boy leading our vision to the central figure pointing to some sort of machine(?)

I always get neck ache visiting these places. I'd like to see all that emulsioned, smarten the place up a bit.! Nice pic. john.
