As London grew during the 19c there was an increasing problem with waste which caused numerous epidemics of cholora.It was not until the stench of the sewage polluted thames caused those on it's banks in the House of Commons to almost pass out that anything was done about it.The result was the sewage system we still use today.I went with chums to a restored pumping station in the east end of London on one of it's few "steaming " days.The group were all shouting "sh*t"! when I took the picture.
