These kids were formerly street kids in Naivasha, Kenya. They were either kicked out of their house because the parents couldn't afford to keep them or they became too hard to manage. Lucky for them Sunshine found them. They now have a roof over their head and food to eat. The caring Christian staff do amazing work. The kids now have a chance of making to an adult. Most if not all of these kids will likely finish 3rd grade (it's free in Kenya to attend school until 3rd grade). That will allow them a chance to get a job. Some of the kids with the help of sponsors might go as far as High School and perhaps even college. As one kid put it when he found out that a sponsor had chosen to pay for his schooling he exclaimed that this was better than soccer. This meant that college was better than the only other ticket to success he might have a chance at...soccer.
These kids still struggle daily to resist past temptations such as "sniffing glue" or skipping out of school. The staff is quite strict about following the rules. Some of these kids may have been reached too late....but for now they are just enjoying being boys. These kids were an amazing bunch that completely enjoyed having their pictures taken.....over an over again. They always wanted to see the results.
