"Lanyu", a Chinese pronunciation, also named Orchid Island is 40 sea miles away from Taiwan. In native language, this island is called "pongso no tao", means "Island of Humen".
The island is small and only 38.45 KM around the island. People are mainly "Yami"(also "Tao", natives so call themselves) whose ancestors were from an island of Philippines around 800 years ago and now there are about 3000 population on the island.
In April 2004, Riki and i had a first time visiting to Lanyu and quickly found out that we really love this place and its people. Unfortunately the weathers were not fine during the 3 days we stayed and local people didn't like to be photographed by tourists, so i didn't take many pictures.
