Visiting Female Redwings

(Please view original size)

Snowing all day here. All white and quiet.
This pair visited this afternoon and are twice the size of a common sparrow.

Thanks for the help identifying these birds.

Excellent capture and to get two together is just great, Brian! Terrific ambiance, surrounded by snow!! Well done.

Those are Red-winged Blackbirds - females or possibly first-year males. That sharp bill and large size separate them from the sparrows. Good shot - I like the way the flying snow looks.

Excellent focus on the birds with a great sense of the weather. Excellent shot.
I would say they are sparrows but there are numerous types.

Uhhh....birds. Kidding, haven't a clue. I absolutely love this winter scene. We don't get much snow here. The threat of a flake falling, it's shut down the schools, clean out the grocery stores and slap on the chains. Red Alert.
Peter Stahl01-Dec-2007 23:23
Nice setting and composition Brain!. They look like Redpolls. Male and female. GMV.
