Dear Moms Saloon, Edgewood, Maryland

This was my hangout in 1978-81. It was a great bar, one of those places where everyone knew only your first name. This is the place that comes to mind when I hear Bob Seger's, Night Moves! Pizza was $1.25 and on Wednesday draft was 25 cents. Closing time was at 2:00AM, fifteen minutes before that; the song "Panama Red" would signal that it was last call time. The place burned down maybe twenty-five years ago. The area is now a huge parking lot for Amtrak. There is no trace of where it once was. There should be a sign! If anyone recognizes anyone in the pictures, or just wants to relate a story, I would love to hear from you. Long Live Dear Moms!! Thanks for looking.

One of the greatest dive bars I've been in, and I've been in quite a few. I still miss it, enough that I uploaded (hopefully not violating any copyrights) the logo to Zazzle and got a very professional looking t-shirt. FYI, I'm making no $ from this. I just hope to run into another Dear Mom's alumnus some day. Not likely in California, but who knows?

I loved going to Dear Mom Saloon back in the 1976-78 timeframe. They played great music and my husband and played pinball. We had such a great time there. For a while, I was told that they only kept Boonesfarm Strawberry Hill for me. LOL. Now I know why.

I would love to see more pictures posted if you have them. I remember Andre, she used to live in the park beside that rock n roll nightclub on 40. Our group was from Aberdeen/Havre de Grace but we stopped by there almost every weekend at some point.

I was too young to hang out but my mom owned the little "antique" shop a couple buildings down. This was 1976-78. My brother started going before he was legal but the full beard and mustashe hid his youth.

I hung out there when i was stationed at Aberdeen Proving ground. Spent a lot if my off duty time there. I still have a menu!

I was told about "Mom's" sometime in the mid-seventies by some friends I went to high school with. Even though I lived near the Big Falls Inn in Baltimore County, I would often go to Mom's. Quite a few soldiers from Edgewood Arsenal would go there as well. Some of the happiest times in my life were spent there!!!

I am trying to see if I can recall the names of more..... I was candy franz hanging with Colleen Mcnelis, Ann chambers, dave mcpeak, tom newton, Bill Kilgore, the hepners, the clayton road gang, mountain road gang and MFLB people from EHS.

This looks like the new group of regulars who took up residence at Dear Mom's after I went away to college in 1973. On the whole, much more reputable and sober-looking than the very questionable bunch (myself definitely included) that preceded them. Somebody oughta make a movie or something. Or at least sell "Dear Mom's" T-Shirts.

Man, I was there every weekend and even during the week. I started going there in 1973 (17 years old) 18 was the legal drinking age. I really enjoyed that bar but do not recornize many people.

The Saloon Gang" group photo was shot by me on a Saturday morning in October of 1975. Truly a great place for I was a bartender there from 1976 till it was sold. Send me an e-mail for I feel I took quite a few of the photo' of the photos posted here.

Group shot, lower right hand corner, the fellow holding the dog is the younger of the two Kowalski brothers. The pretty girl to the left of "Fat Albert" AKA Dan Riley, is the sister to a girl I graduated with in 1970. Her Older sister was Debbie Noel. Rich Moore
