Friday, October 24, 2003 - Tupelo, MS/Natchez Trace Parkway
We got up early to continue our tour from Tupelo, MS down the Natchez Trace Parkway - got in the car and it wouldn't start. Thankfully there was a Chevy dealership not too far away and we had the Blazer towed. We were sitting in the waiting room figuring we'd be there for a good part of the day when a salesman approached us and said "Are you the folks stranded from Texas trying to get home?" I guess we had that "stranded" look. He told us he had a brand new Chevy Trailblazer that we were welcome to use while they checked my car out, handed us the keys, told us where to go for a good breakfast and how to get to the house where Elvis was born. I will say one thing - I think the friendliest people in the world live in Tupelo, MS. I told Steve when I retire, I want to move to Tupelo and spend the rest of my life driving up and down the Natchez Trace Parkway.
We had just finished touring Elvis's first home and the museum when the dealership called and said it was the battery and was fixed and ready to go, so by noon (only 4 hours late) we were back on the road.
