The White-tailed Eagle (Sea Eagle) breeds in northern Europe and northern Asia. The largest population in Europe is found along the coast of Norway. The White-tailed Eagle is mostly resident. Only the northernmost birds such as the eastern Scandinavian and Siberian population are migrating south in winter. From the area around the Sea of Okhotsk (Siberia & Kamchatka) many eagles gather in the pack ice along the coast of Hokkaido (Japan). Outside the little fishing village Rausu you can normally spot several hundred eagles every day and going out with a boat you can get extremely close to these birds of prey (including Steller`s Sea Eagles). Also in inland lake Furen and Akan Crane-center Sea Eagles are plentiful during winter because of people feeding them regularly.
