Rosengård is a district in eastern Malmö. The population amounts to approximately 22,000. Of these, at least 86 percent have a foreign background, according to the definition of two foreign-born parents. 60 percent were born abroad and 26 percent were born in Sweden with both parents born abroad. Iraq, Yugoslavia, Lebanon, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Afghanistan make up the five largest countries of origin. The proportion of young people is high in the district. One third of the population is under the age of eighteen, which can be compared to the national average of 21 percent
