Female Red-Breasted Merganser

There were four of these birds tearing around a lagoon yesterday at sunset. Does anyone know what kind they are? Thanks for the ID Cindy.

You've become quite the wildlife/bird photographer.

Agree with the others; that looks like a female merganser. Nice timing and great light Breland.

Certainly funny looking. I suppose her mate thinks she's quite lovely.

No, but I'm bad for iding waterfowl. Could it be an introduced species? At any rate, it's a great motion capture.

Supposedly the black-bellied whistling duck (but it does not have a black belly)

Nice shot. I have not looked up the name but there are hundreds of them in Audubon Park right now. They usually live in south Texas and California.

O-oh, looks like he's sinking. Funny expression, well captured.
