Great Blue Heron with Carp

Bosque del Apache Refuge

Gayle and I could not believe that this heron swallowed this fish. We must have both taken 20 or 30 shots. We took this this afternoon at the Bosque del Apache WMR in New Mexico.

Nikon D70 ,Nikkor 300mm f/4 ED-IF AF
1/800s f/6.7 at 500.0mm full exif

Superb capture, it always amazes me to see something like this and their ability to swllow it whole.
Side note: the other day I was waiting to get my hair cut, and picked up an older copy of Outdoor Sports, and found an artical about a snake in the Everglades of Flordia that had attempted too swallow an alligator whole and split in half, I believe the artical said the snake was sixteen foot long...
