White Pelicans

Bonnie Carrie Spillway

I didn't know what to call this one. I was amazed at there size comparing it to the ibis on the right. They are large birds as you can see. I kind of thought that it was a meeting of a Tenn fan and a couple of LSU fans, based on the color of there bills, but I don't know if pelicans like football. What do you think? The difference in shading and bill color is age. The two on the left are the young ones.

Such contrast!

Wonderful, Breland. If that middle pelican had been half a step forward you really would have a two-headed pelican.

It's always nice to have something that puts size in perspective, isn't it. Great shot.

They are huge! I have never seen the white pelicans. Great capture.

I think they would make an excellent tight end, they would grab anything tossed their way, excellent image Breland...

Great colors. They'd probably be very good at football. Wouldn't drop the ball very often!

I think it's an amazing caputre. The ibis really gives a perspective to their size. And why do they have different colored bills? Sex or age?

Great shot Breland, I had to do a double take on the two heads. I heard there were lots of white pelicans in the spillway right now, it's nice to see them.

I pass on the football question, (no pun intended), but you have a fine capture here, Breland.

Terrific image Bre--wonderful colors and inspired compo. with the Ibis.

I think you got a good shot of them. They are huge, larger than brown pelicans and instead of diving for fish, they tend to just dunk their heads and scoop fish up in the pouch. I've seen them do that in real shallow water - quite the sight.

Can't answer the football question but I think they would be difficult to tackle at that size though slow on their feet :>) Good shot, Breland.
