One of the competitions that balloonist play is the Hare and the Hound. One balloon takes off ( the hare ) and drops a marker some where along the way. The hounds have to find it and the one who does wins. Much easier said then done as I understand it. Prevailing winds steer the balloon, the pilot goes up and down in them.
