Capital of the federal state of Baden-Württemberg, Stuttgart (pop. 560,000) has the highest per capita income of any city in Germany. It contains major companies like Bosch, Daimler Benz, Porsche, Standard Electric Lorenz, and German IBM. In contrast to the common imagination of an industrial city, Stuttgart could be the greenest city in Europe with its opulence in parks, orchards and vineyards.
