I also looked up the "Je me souviens". We cannot forget the history and the respect of people that made this cry. I hope and pray that a peaceful unity can be maintained though.

Je me souviens (I remember) ... well, those three words are of EXTREME importance to Quebeckers. It's on every car licence plates registered in Quebec, it is a battle cry sort of thing ... What is it to remember? Well ... it is a very long and complicated story but in short ... it is what made Canada what it is today! It all started with a war, fought in Quebec City on the Plains of Abraham ... England against France ... England had thousands of military men while France had only a few rag tag lot of farmers armed with pitch forks ... Of course the French lost the battle, massacred in fact ... and thus Canada was born. To this day, a large group of the French people in Quebec want an independent and sovereign country, effectively splitting from Canada ... and the present government called Partie Québecois is hell-bent on that ... while the other half wants to remain as part of Canada ... But JE ME SOUVIENS is all about that!
