B&W Moto GP Races: Giacomo Agostini & Co.

Once upon a time ...
Begin always so beautiful tales ...
A long time ago a young boy was going to Europe where he held the Moto GP Races....
Then he tried to sell his photographs to magazines ...
If things went well this guy could buy a new lens...or a new camera body...
It was 1975 ....

I have to thank the many manufacturers of motorcycles and friends who helped me to complete this photo gallery.

Great collection of images, I used to spend a lot of time at motorcycle racing events in my younger days, I have seen several of these riders racing and I went to the I.O.M. TT races 15 times.

Great images! Thanks for sharing them. This was back in my day, when the tires were skinny and silencers were for wimps. My ears are still ringing from all that wonderful noise. Seeing shots of Phil Read brings back some hot and cold memories. He was certainly quick, but he was also a primary reason the Isle of Man TT was dropped from the world championship calendar. Though I have to admit that it was inevitable, it still rankles me a bit. Click on my name if you'd like to see some 2015 TT photos.

Loved the bikes and riders from those years when I watched them race at various tracks around the world. There was an elegance to the bikes back then and a character which the rider had to match to get the most from it. Agostini and the MV Agusta come to mind, along with Mike Hailwood and 6 cylinder Honda 250 come to mind. That Honda reved to 25,000 rpm and power came on at 18,000. The sounds and looks of those years revealed with these photos. Voted

(For the record, I had a 250cc, a 350cc, a 450cc and a 750cc in succession, but none as nice as these.)

I'll confess I've never followed motorcycle racing very closely, but you don't have to be a fan to recognize how good these photos are. They truly are priceless, Paulo. Now if these had been pictures of Coppi or Bartoli climbing the Stelvio I would have fallen out of my chair! :)
In 1975 I was using a cheap Fujica and 3rd party lenses. Nikon was just a distant dream back then. ~V

Yep, I was 15 in 1975 and I remember posters I had of Agostini on his MV Agusta if I'm not mistaken, Cecotto, Read too...these pictures are priceless Paulo, well done and great idea to show them. Hope this set will have the recognition it deserves...vVv
