My first love in photography. I started at the Bronx Zoo as a youngster with my first Canon SLR. Some feel that zoos represent cruel confinement of wild species. More often than not they are "environmentalists" who would close zoos but continue to proliferate hideous looking wind farms and infernal solar arrays which destroy or incinerate hundreds of thousands of birds every year. Go figure. Others have a misguided sense of artistic merit allowing that only animals photographed in their wild state can make true art. Whatever...I think of zoos as the last hope for survival of certain species being hunted or crowded to extinction due to mankind's ignorance, cruelty, stupidity and greed. But most of all they are places where children can come in live contact with these creatures and maybe, just maybe develop a love for them.....I hope everyone who views these pictures enjoys them. The photos are all in black and white because that is how I began all those decades ago. Included are images from other zoos and aquariums. FB
