The city of Cologne is almost 2,000 years old and has been an important trading center since its early days as a small Roman town.

Today Cologne is home to approximately one million people – and around six million visitors come to the Rhine metropolis every year to explore the city and its sights.
First and foremost, of course, the Cologne Cathedral and Cologne's famous 12 Romanesque churches. The great thing about Cologne is that you can combine many highlights,
monuments, hotspots, and museums on foot – for example, walking from the cathedral through Cologne's Old Town to the Rheinauhafen harbor and back along the Rhine.
