Historical Satellites

view map

This exhibit features a model of the Soviet Sputnik 1, the first artificial satellite, launched in 1957.
The satellite is displayed there in a glass case to illustrate its technical structure.

Above is a model of the Ariel 1 satellite, the world's first internationally designed and built satellite.
It was constructed by NASA and carried British experiments to study the ionosphere and solar radiation.

Left is a model of the Soviet space probe Luna 3, which captured the first images of the far side of the Moon.
