This historical landmark is Pfalzgrafenstein Castle. It is situated on a small rocky island in the Rhine,
near the town of Kaub. The castle served as a toll castle to oversee the collection of shipping tolls.
It is one of the few castles in the Middle Rhine Valley that has never been destroyed.
