The Great Bear, technically known as Ursa Major, is an extensive constellation in the northern sky.
The striking configuration of seven particularly bright stars in this constellation is known in German-speaking countries as the Big Dipper.
Its stars can be used to locate Polaris, making it an important tool for navigating the night sky.
