Located halfway up the mountainside near the town, Cullera Castle dominates both the ancient part and modern Cullera.
Its origins date back to before the 10th century and on the ruins of the first Moorish castle, King Jaime I had the present castle built in the 12th century,
later restored again by Pedro IV "the Ceremonial". During the War of Independence the castle was fought over.
