According to tradition, the Frauenkirche stands on the foundations of one of Karl d. Large (768-814) built or arranged "crypt" (presumed location of the Benedictine monastery of St. Deochar (Deocar) around 782/783). Under the church and in the garden in front of it are graves from the 9th and 10th centuries documented.
