The origins date back to the Middle Ages. The name refers to the Carolingian royal court, which was first mentioned in a document in 867 and its beginnings probably up to the 7th / 8th. Its center, the area between Andreaskirche, Martin-Luther-Platz and the upstream street Am Hof. There are several buildings on the street that have been renovated with urban development measures. The former fountain, which previously stood on Saumarkt, was moved to Am Hof street.
