Also called Ansbacher Gate Tower or New Gate, the last of the four gate towers that were once preserved in the city. The substructure and the passage come from the previous tower from the 15th century, the upper part of the 33m high tower was built in 1603, probably after a collapse in 1578. The tower was used to look out for enemies and conflagrations, as well as the "tower blowing" (after which it is named).
