Stadtmauer

Dinkelsbühl

*** Best view at original size ***

In 1648 the Segringer Tor collapsed after the siege by Swedish troops and was rebuilt in the baroque style in 1655.
The subsequent city wall secured the southwest flank of the city with numerous defense towers. In the gate passage a staircase leads down into the city moat.
The wide Segringer Straße offers a delightful view over the roofs of the old town to the St. Georg Minster.
Painters discovered the romantic town for their motifs as early as 1890, so that Dinkelsbühl became a summer retreat for Munich and Berlin artists.

Certainly looks an artistic place.

Interesting information, I can see why artists liked this area.
