CITY ON THE VILS
Even today, the secret capital of the Upper Palatinate is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Bavaria. The city wall, three kilometers long, almost completely encloses the lovable city. In addition to numerous towers and gates, the so-called city glasses are a popular photo motif. The unique water gate building from the 16th century is just one of the many outstanding buildings in the old town through which the Vils flows. If you stand on one of the small wooden bridges over the Vils, you almost feel like you are in Venice in the Upper Palatinate.
