South Sikkim
South Sikkim is a district of the Indian state of Sikkim. Its capital is Namchi. South Sikkim lies at an altitude of 400 to 2000 metres and hence enjoys a temperate climate for most of the year. Major urban centres include Namchi, Ravangla, Jorethang Bazaar and Melli. This south district is basically a developing district compared to East District, Gangtok. It comes a second largest populated district in the State. Since the majority of the peoples are farmers, the major sources incomes are from agricultural sectors only. The major agricultural crops are maize, Paddies, ginger, cardamom,oranges, potatoes,and cash crops. Apart from agricultural sector, the other sources of income are Tourism, Trades, Village Tourism, Tea & etc.comment | share |
