Angkor's Bas Relief

An uniquely carved bas relief across all Temples of Angkor was mostly completed in 12th century, but in the 16th century several new reliefs were added. These bas relief spans more than 600 years from AD 802 to 1432 during the Angkorian period which the Temples of Angkor were built and the Khmer empire consolidated its position as one of the great powers of Southeast Asia.

The bas relief collection shown below are not only captured from the mother temple of Angkor Wat but across Temples of Angkor ancient city such as famous Banteay Kdei, Banteay Srei, Banteay Samré, Bayon and many mores.

Most of the bas relief in pinkish hue color are mostly captured from Banteay Srei. A Hindu temple that dedicated to Shiva. Banteay Srei is one of the most wonderfully and well-preserved Angkorian period temple with its finest stone carving seen anywhere on the planet. Banteay Srei to the Khmer means "Citadel of the Women" and it is believe this temple must have been built by a woman.
