Kalkite is located at 930m altitude in the Snowy Mountains, southern NSW (near the town of Jindabyne). We usually get a couple of light snowfalls every year, but it's a rare event to get consistent heavy falls. This was one of those days. Janelle & I had been up to Thredbo for the morning and it was dumping there as well. It had ben snowing as we left Kalkite, with the road out quite sketchy.At the top of the hill (1200m) we came across some people who had skidded off the road into the ditch and were pondering their situation. The return trip back down the hill was a sphincter clenching experience! The snow continued to fall for most of the day, so we had quite a nice cover in our yard... so of course we built a kicker!
