Harajuku and Meiji-Jingu

Two places that although close to each other, couldn't be more different. Harajuku is the meeting place for young Tokyoites to hang out and look cool as well as the Cos-play-zoku crowd at Jingu-bashi (that have to be seen to be believed!). Meiji-Jingu is a shrine, built in 1920 to honour Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken. After being bombed in WW2, it was rebuilt in 1958. When we visited, the shrine was busy, with kimono clad locals rubbing shoulders with just married couples, as well as the odd tourist... or 100!
