Kathmandu

It was obvious that this part of the city has never had "running" water.
When the city was built there were natural springs and "step down" water
wells. Back then you brought water daily to your home.

Over the years both earthquakes and overuse dried up the wells and springs.
So unfortunately, the people in the city are really bcack to where they were
several hundred years ago...

For those curious, water is delivered from outside the area and there are some
deep wells.

They have obviously adapted. We are so fortunate to have all our needs right at hand. Thanks for the reminder that it's not always so. This is a terrific street scene, made even better by the accompanying information. V
