This beaded Casspir was exhibited on a street of Melrose Arch, Johannesburg, South Africa in September, 2017. CASSPIR is a mine resistant ambush protected vehicle that was deployed in townships during the apartheid era. The artist Ralph Ziman wanted to reclaim this weapon of war which is a symbol of oppression and make it Beautiful Africa. The surface of the tank is covered with vibrant colors of glass beads.
