Just outside the market was a family sitting outside their house and while I was walking by they asked me to take a picture of the new baby. They were all so proud of the mother's first baby and the fact that this child was born on Christmas day. It was the 28th in the Philippines(I leave the time and date at California time), so the baby was only 3 days old.
For those not familiar with the Philippines, there are over 70 dialects and there are over 7,000 islands, but once in school, all education, all the way through the universities, is taught in English. At the end of the Spanish American War, the Philippines were taken from Spain, Spanish was dropped as the official language, and until June 26, 1946 they were a colony of the United States.
