These two movies had a profound impact on me as a young boy. My grandmother would take me to the Saturday matinee in Montebello California and drop me off at the Beverly Theatre...I was less than ten year old. "Them" was a "B" movies but it scared me to death as the ants were mutated into monsters due to an atomic blast. Turns out that this was the first movie with my hero Fess Parker (Davy Crockett) in it and he was a cop in the movie. (James Arness, Matt Dillon of the TV series “ Gunsmoke” was the leading actor)

As for The Blob, same scary effect on me and was the beginning of another favorite actor of mine, Steve McQueen. (The Great Escape) Steve lived near us in Santa Paula at the end of his life.
