RODRIGUES North/East and the Interior

The Island of Rodrigues is part of Mauritius. It is located 600 KM east of the main island. (1 1/2 hour by turboprop.) The island is much smaller and has a quite different "feel" than Mauritius.

Hey there.I lived in Rodrigues for six months to try and capture the essence of the people and the Island itself.I also took a lot of pictures and found that in the end all they really did was jog my memory about my experiences there.It was a very special time in my life.Thank you for sharing your photos.I am returning to Rodrigues for a week on the 8th of april 2010.I hope to find my friends there are well and happy.I sure will be happy to see them.D

Thanks for the wonderful photos that recapture the island I visited in 1967. In those days we came by ship and stayed with the Cable and Wireless while operating a radio amateur dxpedition. I will never forget the great people, our explorations and the pass at Port SE, and Trou d'Argent. Larry Page

My name is Sunil Dussoye. I studied at the Mauritius College of Education (1985 - 86) where I met lots of Friends from Rodrigues. They were very pleasant just like the island itself. I have tried , by numerous ways, to find out what are they doing now ... basically to keep in touch and catct up on the good old times. It is amazing how time flies but my remembrance of these friends are still fresh. Hello Jan, I was just sneaking at your photos. i live in Australia now for 4yrs and i think you captured the true essence of Rodrigues Island. It brings a lot of memories because for 33yrs i spend most holidays taking school kids on hiking trip to discover and love their Island. What i had captured in memory, you have captured thrpough your lenses. magnificent

im a student studying in australia i think your pictures are very awesome.its a good job,i can even see a pictureof my house backhome i spent more than 1hour looking at it because its the first time i see a picture of my house since i left rodrigues 2 years ago fabulous.i was browsing the net, it was a huge suprise when i get to this wed site.i'll tell all my friends about it coz im sure they'll like ,it keep it up its a ggod job u doing.i would like if u can let me know when thereeare some news ones.thak u
