Howard Smith Says - 100 years ago tonight (22/12/2014) my grandad conducted a service for the prisoners of war at the internment camp on the Isle of Man...He was the Salvation Army officer in Douglas. It was the first Christmas of the Great War. According to his notes in the Corps history book of Douglas...." many soldiers sought the Lord this night and many blessings received”
The reason he was sent off the mainland was due to the fact he had two daughters....my auntie Emmie and auntie May.....in the history book it says that a daughter born 19th June 1916 to Commandant Bourne.....Frances Mona....my mum.
