Spotted Sandpiper (Actitis macularia)

This is a small sandpiper that breeds in Pennsylvania. You can find this bird along rivers, streams, in marshes, and even along lakes in the state parks. This bird was hunting food along the grassy shallows of the lake at Bald Eagle State Park, in the west end boro park of Howard, PA, Sunday morning, 5/25/2008. Equipment: Nikon D200 camera and AF Nikkor 300mm f4 ED lens; manual focus; 1/125 sec at f4, aperture priority.
