This juvenile Sharp-shinned Hawk strafed my feeders this afternoon (11/22/2008) around 2 pm. I saw it streak past the kitchen window, grabbed my camera and carefully peered out the back porch door. It was perched in the mulberry tree about 15 ft off the ground. I carefully approached, snapping images as I went. Finally, the bird let me stand nearly directly under it and take many photos close up. When finished, I just carefully backed away, leaving the hungry bird to wait for the feeder regulars to return.
